That certainly is a rare one, doubt it is ex Army maybe just a few that Inters bought in to try the market.

I think you might be spot on with the headlights looking through the Fred.W.Crismon book on Inters this truck looks more like a C300 (1936).

If it is a D400 it is one of 460 made.
If it is a C300 it is one of 673 made.

I have asked for the chassis number but owner was unable to find it in the normal spot on a Inter so can not confirm what it is.

Which as Atki said it is one very rare truck.

In my copy of Crismon it shows a 1939 D300 as well as a 1936 C300 with the headlights in the same location as those shown in your pics.
One thing can be guaranteed it's either a "C300" with a HD-213-A engine or "D"300 with an HD-2323-A but not a D400 (the engine config just ain't correct)

It is now up to $1825.00 as at 8.30 Wed morning 9/6/2010.

It is said to be missing a door, if only 4 of these trucks came to Australia it could be interesting finding another door for it.

Interesting thing about cab over D's is that the R/H door is hinged at the rear and L/H hinged at the front.

That interesting because the photo of the one for sale shows the right hand door hinges are at the front i wonder if they changed it for right hand drive.
