Detroit Diesel 6V-53 Jake Brake Overhaul Kit

Looks like that kit contain's 5/8ths of bugger all. If he had an actual set of Jakes for a 6V53, $750 would be a good starting bid, and I reckon he would get a fair bit of interest, and bit of a bidding "war". When someone rings Detriot and gets a price on the parts they want to sell, and then try's to use it as a valuation, it doesn't take into account the fact that there isn't many 6V53's with Jakes on them. Doesn't look the kit has any soliniods or seals.

yeah look i have to agree with you cam, this is what happened to restoring old bikes, the rarer stuff just go out priced, then the regular guys couldn't afford it, while the blokes who had the big bucks, would pay the gold and set the benchmark,for price, most of these guys just hoarded it up in the cupboard, ultimately less bikes got restored.
