Pardon me for my ignorance and perhaps I can be corrected but , I thought that 360 cubic inch motors were not fitted to Dodge trucks as original . The 360 is a car motor - when I was driving a Dodge that had the big V8 , I was informed by a parts supplier and overhauler of these engines that they were actually a BIG BLOCK truck engine of 361 cubic inches , and were designed for truck operation ? Cheers Clarke . ::)

yes the bigger engine option was the 361 (heavy duty truck version) ..but for some reason many people seem to refer to them as a 360

361 WAS THE BIG TRUCK ENGINE THE 360 WAS ONLY IN CARS THE 318 CAR AND TRUCK MOTORS THE SAME OUTSIDE DEMENTIONS THE SAME AS A 360 I HAVE FITTED MANY 360 INTO MY D5N 600 AND SOMETIMES FITTED THE 318 TRUCKS HEADS ONTO THE 360 WITH 360 VALVES AND EXTRACTORS THEN THOSE OLD LADYS GET UP AND MARCH I STILL HAVE 2 MOTORS SET UP THAT WAY 318 360 THE DISI IS AT THE BACK 361 DISI At THE FRONT THEY ARE ENTIRELY DIFFERENT MOTORS

if i can put my 2 bobs worth in 361s were heavier in the bottom end , crank department that is , they also had sodium filled valves to run cooler , we used to only run them on standard petrol and advance the timing so they would just PING on full throttle , with a steady throttle they were just as economical as a 318 cu from memory 3600 revs was fine , any thing over 3600 rpm you are likely to pull the heads off valves , a balanced 361 you could stand a glass of water on top of air cleaner and not spill a drop , i will get off now before i start living in the past with my passions of DODGES .
