Try this for size. R F W

RFW Robert Frederick Whitehead founded his engineering company in the mid 1940s after serving as a fitter in the RAAE A self-taught engineer, he turned to truck making in 1969, when he produced a Scania-engined twin-steer eight-wheeler fitted with a Bedford KM cab.

RFW went on to offer a range of custom-built trucks in which quality and durability were more important than price. An almost endless choice of diesel engines was available, including Detroit Diesel, Cummins, Caterpillar, Scania- AEC. Rolls Royce and Nissan UD. Power ratings ranged trom 190 to 550bhp. Later, as the range became established, RFW had their own composite fibreglass and steel cab of very functional design. Model types included 4x2, 4x4. 6x4, 8x4 and 8x8, plus individually designed machines. During the late 1980s on-highway trucks gave way entirely to low-volume, custom-built specials including fire-fighting vehicles and special road-rail trucks.

Now where's me PALLET load of Bundy and Coke ?

RFW it iz
He originally made permatrak lazy axles

FWIW
Wot about this beast
a 14x14

RFW (Robert F Whitehead) is an Australian specialist manufacturer of all wheel drive trucks.
This eight wheel drive 8x8 RFW truck chassis is towing what became a six wheel drive 6x6 trailer when a second engine and transmission were added to make a 14x14. The trailer unit is computer controlled to keep in-synch with the prime mover. The glamorous unit has a most unglamorous job, having been fitted with specialist equipment for cleaning Queensland sewers!

For Memory
RFW was sold to a Melbourne Co (Birrus Engineering)
They made a truck th@ was capable of rolling on rail lines as well as a maintenance vehicle
it was @ one of the truck shows without engine they pushed it around
later the owner of the Co was killed road testing
(Me thinks)

That all wheel drive thing used to owned by the brisbane city council,I havn`t seen it around for a while. If you ever get a chance to look at one they aren`t as good as they look, suspension and cross members made out of bits of angle iron and RHS etc.A lot had 6V53`s in them.I think there is one and the bones of another at Coloundra you could probobly get for not much more than scrap Pat.This is one I did for Fraser Island,we extended the wheelbase, fitted the crane and made the Tilt Tray,I think it`s up at Rainbow Beach rusting away, last I heard a mob called the Dodgy Bros had it.
