Probably not that they can afford it, it is just no skin off their nose as they just pass the cost on. But yes compliance would be cheaper for them as they would have so much to do, they would have to employ people full time for it. While the owner driver has to do it all himself.

Wonder what would happen if one of these acedemic idiots moved house and the same applied to them.....would they check the removal trucks chassis for cracks, brakes adjusted properly, kingpins within tolerance etc etc No doubt they would plead that they were not mechanicaly minded yet everyone else is supposed to know all this
