Anyone want to fill in a Leyland Man on the difference between a Transtar 400 (bonneted)
and a DCF400 ? :-?

Welcome any info or pictures of 60s Australian AEC Mustangs (Leyland Comet lookalikes)

Hi NT, a Transtar 400 'IS' a DCF 400. There is also a DCF 402, which is a long bonnet like the one in your 2nd pic. They're both Transtar 400's. I'm pretty sure thats the way it is...Jeff. PS Great old pics, thanks for posting them.

Howdy,

Yep jeff thats the way it is with the Transtar 400 and 402 DCF etc
Here is a piece of completely useless Inter info but i will tell you anyway.
The windscreens and upper door halves from a DCF400 are the same as a cabover CO190 Inter.
The Transtar 400 had an odd looking cab with the big windscreens but they sort of grow on you after awhile.
Not sure what other models shared the wild looking air brake pedal the 400 had. Big wide pedal with a cutout in it to go around the steering column.

Thanks for the pics Rufo.

Hi Basil, dont forget the ole DCO's, virtually the same cab with a different front and floor. The CO is virtually the same cab excepting it is a low forward entry cab, with wheel arch's and different floorpan. Jeff.
