When finally the gearbox expired in the one I was driving, the company replaced it with a 10 speed RR.

A fellow called me this morning on the hunt for a 1418 flywheel- he's a bit stuck, as always, this stuff gets thrown into the scrap! ( I know of about four that got thrown away a few weeks ago- typical hey.) He's got a water truck, and the ring gear is stuffed.
Any ideas? I told him I'd put the word out for him.
Cheers

If it’s a normal heat shrink ring gear, heat it, and rotate it about 1/4 turn. It can only be worn in 3 places. ie 120 degrees apart.

I'd rather have tools that I don't need, than not have the tools I do need.

Flip it over for sure....you will just need to go round the inside edge with an angle grinder and put a bevel on it.,so its sits flush on the recess.

Can’t just flip it over because there’s a lead in on the teeth on the front side to let the pinion engage and disengage easily.

I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,
Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

I don't know about 1418 flywheels but on many vehicles, you can just turn the flywheel one or two bolts away from standard and have the starter work on another section of the ring gear.

Thanks very much for the information gentlemen,
I've passed all this on to old mate who needed the flywheel.
Hope he gets it sorted!
Cheers
