RE: Rear Overhang

LOL
https://www.thedrive.com/content/2022/01/B52-road-truck-highway.jpg?quality=85&width=1440&quality=70

The Maximum rear overhang is 25% of overall length
If length of 30m x 25% = 7.50m measured from centre of rear suspension ( also would need a Pilot car bring n up the rear)
also could B
Lesser of 5.5m or 25% of the overall length of the laden combination
main problem with excess R.O..... the driver can't see when negotiatin a right angle corner..... Best to start out wide ..... cut the corner .... n end up wide
Me extendable semi only weighs in a tad ovr 8t.. it has a low profile rear end (bumper etc) so the swing will not hit (minimize) any objects mainly plants and shrubs etc

Swishy mate
Early February we will start delivering God willing 80 metre Windmill blades from Cairns to Kaban about 250 Ks while the 25% is around 22 metres we need a bit more. When I look back and consider the first blades we did at 27 metres this job almost has the length in the overhang. You can only wonder where it will stop.

Mrsmackpaul, Those Keyboard Warriors are Mostly correct.. With Your (or anyone else's) trailer the maxium Overhang is the Lessor of 3.7Mtre Or 60% of the Wheel base.

As per this Link..
www.nhvr.gov.au/road-access/mass-dimensi...limits/rear-overhang

The 25% of the Load that both Swishy & Rex refer to. Is One of (The many) Conditions of their respective Oversize Overmass (OSOM) Permits the operate under.
This is in No way shape or form Applicable to the overhang of Your (Or anyone else's) Trailers...!

I wonder if the limit is when the tips start traveling at the speed of sound.

Thanks for the explanation re: floor. I first thought it was a concrete pad set in the middle but it didn't look right. Steel plates also means you can weld to it to hold things down. ... smart.
