Think the 282 was just a Later version ...all the same basic engine

The 282 is a heavier duty version of the 281...the 283 was a twin carb version for the Mk5 ACCOs.........In general ,a 282 had sodium cooled exhaust valves with positive rotation..........these valves were very expensive ,like $140 each in 1970,so anything like a Repco rebuild wont have sodium valves............the only motor sure to have sodium valves is one ex an army ACCO.

Pretty sure the first 3 digits of your Engine number will tell you what size block you have,!
For example AGD281xxxxxxx

But happy to be corrected..

Engine should be a 6-281.

Auto Surplus would probably have a manifold gasket. They are very good to deal with.
