Golden Fleece Tankers was created by Hank the Truck
Just thought I would put up a few photos of the Golden Fleece Fleet that was based in Adelaide during the 70s.
My dad was a driver from 1971 until they were bought out by Caltex in 1981. My uncle also worked there and drove the same truck as my dad on the opposite shift, my brother, cousin and I, spent many a great day driving down to Birkenhead with the one starting, running around the terminal watching the tankers, and then coming home with the other one.
They drove most of the trucks in the photos, with the Mack being their last truck before Caltex took over, they continued to drive it in Caltex colours.
Anyone else have photos of Australian Petrol Tankers of the 70s and 80s?

Nice pics Rufo, unusual to see Alcoa's on a truck of that era, especially a fleet truck in Mackay, bet the driver was knig of the road.

I think that ACCO would have a V185 Cummins Sarge, photo on page 31 of my book of a similar beast.

The round fuel tank was standard fittment for the 1950/2050 Series.
Not sure about the air intake/cleaner - but the battery box (and single fuel tanks) were usually on the left side. However - with fuel tankers - it was common to see every thing moved to the RHS so the pump and metreing gear could be fitted to the LHS.
The process of 'flame proofing' also often saw things moved around to suit.
While I wouldn't argue with AkiPete - I'd go for a 210 Cummins. Usually - 1950 = 185 Cummins, 2050 = 210 Motor in my limited experience. But as usual - I will stand correcting on that.

Could be a 210 Cummins, this came in late in the Butterbox era.
