Its been a while since some photos,
so the tub is all done now, thanks to the expert help from a friend!
Some pics of the progress,
all up the zincanneal sheets costs around 60-100 each, 4 all up with tail gate pieces, from one steel and the folding was done for about 250 all up for lots of trips and dozens of folds.
working out the support blocks on the rails, each one had a 10mm rubber mount to the chassis
The rails all in place, so fingers crossed the holes line up
The scrap bin was getting more pieces day by day
Jim

The photos help keep me encouraged to, these projects take me years, for some reason!
This one looked easy at the start, but back them i had two or three Sons helping out,
I am very happy its coming together,
Jim

Some more pics of the rust removal
The right hand corner was the worst
We had to curve the metal to try to match the shape, no english wheel, but a chainsaw and sanding disc got us stump shrinking!
This was more challenging than the you tube clips you see
we had to make it in three parts, only through lack of experience
The final finish, solid enough

Just after some suggestions for the timber for the ute bed?
we have done the black tar paint under now, the ute is not being painted as the original paint will do for now, lacking time and funds, so we just clear coated the tub for now.
thickness is about 1 inch and will be screwed down, and not sure whether to use T and G or bed strips??

problem when you put a floor down and jack it up nice and tight when it gets wet it swells and forces the screws and nails out some normal type boards with the cover strips help to stop this happening

True, i have been thinking of some std boards, non tongue and groove, with a strip,
Has any one seen any bed strips for a reasonable price, not from a hot rod site?
cheers
