Yes a bit sad. George F. Ding was known to everyone who traveled that road. I can just remember when the road was unsealed and Dad carried planks for the creek crossings. The Roadhouse was rebuilt some time after, maybe 70's? The boom times passed and as cars got more reliable and fuel efficient business dropped off enough for the new servo to close. I still stop at Yunta for fuel even if I don't need it whenever I travel that way.
Thanks for the hint Swishy, I tried to follow your instructions but still failed. Your pictures are safe with me :S

That photo is a bit before my time, but i went through Yunta yesterday, and again today. Certainly looks a bit different now.

Been away in my caravan for a week and just returned. Umuwa was in my stomping grounds 30 years ago, and Ernabella was home for four years.

Making a small effort to save the history of road transport in Australia by being in front of Simms
"never ever bin there tho" The sole reason he has never been there is if he had left when this picture was taken in one of his screaming dust suppressors he would be still on the way.

I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,
Now I find I can't do any work in this position!
If it is outside the Ford factory, it must be in their own service road, as the Hume Highway at that point has a median strip with either three or four lanes in each direction.
