Back to the previous one, that parrot is mounted at the height of Batmans Hill, which was removed to make space for railway facilities.

Yeah....
Lucas made fridges, that's why the English drink warm beer!
They also built vacuum cleaners, it was their only product that didn't suck!
LOL :silly: :P

On my stationary engines I have Lucas magnetos and this common saying was thrown at me about them being the 'Prince of Darkness'. Finny enough the person who posted it has a lot of engines with Wiko EK magnetos and he is always posting questions on the problems he is having with them. My reliable Lucas products, so far work perfectly well, not to mention the Lucas electrics on the David Brown.
But I truly like the title and especially the poster swishy, thanks for posting.

It seems you have never owned an English car or if you have, the memories are so bad you have subconsciously blotted them out. As a slow learner I have had half a dozen Jags, a few Minis, another half dozen Landrovers/RangeRovers plus sundry other products coming from the pride of British industry. I have even owned 3 English vintage aircraft with Lucas equipment - now there is a death wish if ever there was one. luckily everything can short and smoke so long as the magnetos keep going which they did because none of my aircraft had Lucas magnetos.

I even own a Commer to this day - just replaced the Lucas generator with an alternator (not Lucas) and within days had to find a new starter.

I know using capitals is rude and means shouting in modern computer talk but EVERY ONE of those vehicles gave electrical problems.

thanks for that Lang, you just reminded that I did have a Mini too that I flogged for a few years and again with no electrical issues. Something that has stuck in my mind and actually does happen is that any of the vehicles including the David Brown, now, always start at the slightest touch of the button or key.
Now as for reliability on the Mini it was a test in many other areas but my driving habits just may have contributed to them.
