These photos came from old brochure i had tucked away.
Although quarrying had been going on since the early 1800s,
The name "Blue Metal & Gravel" started around 1935 or so.
The gravel delivery trucks that people mostly remember,
"THE RED TERRORS as they were affectionally termed""
were under the banner of " Mobile Plant".
Arguebly the largest user of Inter trucks in the country.
Their inventry of parts was that large that occasionally IH
would sourse parts from them.
They bought the cab chassis & then built all the bodies them selves (as i recall).
All repairs & rebuilds were done at their Greystanes work shop.
Any machining necessary was done at Howard Eng...........The Commpany owned
engineering arm also at the Greystanes site.
I worked for T.I.P. (transport Industries P/L)
This was the section that looked after the quarry transport equipment, dozers , loaders etc.
I would like to think their would be more photos & info floating around out there some where
...................Billy...................
I CAME INTO THIS WORLD WITH NOTHING & STILL HAVE MOST OF IT.........................
I used to be a truck driver,
but i am now not a truck driver ,
on a good day i can remember
that i used to be a truck driver.
