Ok, it's started. At Meadowbank High the main Northern Railway ran alongside the school on an embankment, and this was the days when steamers, including the Garrets ran. Collecting engine numbers became a craze and it was only the wilder teachers that could prevent a good part of the class making towards the windows to get a better view when a loco (diesel or steam) went past. Me, I just looked on in amusement.
