hi can anybody tell me or point me in right direction in finding out the fleet numbers and chassis numbers of grey ghosts thanks

Chipmonk,

With all this 'Grey Ghost' chit chat happening on the forum at the moment, I find it surprising that the regular experts in all things PACCAR have not answered your question/s. Many have the lists. Anyway, that aside, old documents before me state that the chassis numbers, starting with those LWB German Racing Silver van body units, are as follows:

1968 (old, B-series USA cabs)
Kwikasair: 109930 to 109935, 109950 to 109951, 109982 to 109987, 110942 to 110943
Alltrans: 110944 to 110946
Alltrans Equipment (not silver): 111938 to 111941

1970
----
Kwikasair: 116402 to 116421
Comet Overnight: 118905 to 118912

1971 (Australian-built, C-series cabs)
Comet: 400006 to 400013 (nb. 400008 restored, at Alice Springs)

1972
----
Comet: 400167, 400207 to 400211, 400237 to 400240, 400313 to 400319, 400435 (a K145)
Comet (built for them, but delivery status uncertain): 400184 to 400186, 400236

1973 (mixture of vans and prime movers)
Comet: 400476, 400503 to 400508, 400584 to 400588, 400604

1974 (by this stage, unclear on colours)
KAA Comet: 400711 to 400717, 400718 (a K145), 401068 to 401093
TNT (Peaches & Cream): 401049 to 401067

That covers the interesting era.
Hope this proves of use to you... and others.

I found this one in a farm shed on Eyre Peninsula S.A.
The bottom plate is hard to read, but it says the colour is Dulux German Racing Silver.

Dana8000, just to give you a heads up. When someone posts a question about ghosts werkhorse, myself or others may contact them direct via PM or email to clarify what info they specifically need. If we can help them the info may subsequently be posted or not, depending on the circumstances and respect for individuals privacy. This approach can save a lot of vague to-ing and fro-ing on the forum that will just bore most people. Also we don't always re-act immediately - despite common misconceptions we also have lives!

Because a few of us have a specific interest in ghosts and have done a lot of research we will invariably try to help. And more often than not it's a two way street - the person asking the question learns something and we learn a bit more history.

As to the colour issue - the TNT group went from purchasing trucks for specific divisions to doing it all through the TNT Equipment division then allocating to the specific operation division. This is a typical accounting/admin structure. IPEC did a similar thing with LES (Linehaul Equipment Services which also leased trucks to subbies). So the purchasing name change didn't indicate the colour change, that happened later as noted by werkhorse.
