Another Kenworth innovation was the sleeper cab. As the diesel engine evolved, longer truck routes – Seattle to Los Angeles, Los Angeles to Chicago – were becoming commonplace. To help the long-haul truckers, Kenworth in 1933 became the first company to offer a sleeper cab. The sleeper had just enough room for a driver to lie down and catch a few hours of shut-eye.
