Have you owned it long? What a great looking bit of gear.
Looks great in that original livery. All the best with
whatever you do with it. Cheers.

Great find DC. Looks like a Trusty. Thornycrofts are hard to work out a build date for as they allocated numbers to a model batch which could take years to complete. There are build records about but getting access to them is another matter. If you can find a chassis and engine no it might help. Is the cab steel or glass?

@Detective... Yes, I was impressed by the original Golden Fleece livery too.
@greenie ... thanks for the links. Looks similar to the 'Trusty'.
@mackme ... We have owned it for a couple of days. Just arrived.
@ mammoth ... I'll have a look for the engine and chassis numbers. Cab is steel.

D/C, have a real good look at the cab again, think you'll find the roof is fibre glass and the lower bits are steel, even looks like the mudguards are steel as well.
If you have a look at the line of rivets below the windscreen, and these go around the cab too, you will see where the glass roof has been riveted onto the steel.

The cab looks very similar to my Thornycroft (you put the links above).
The roof down to the bottom of the windscreen line was glass (you can see the windscreen surround in DC's truck is glass)
The green waistline panels were steel although the doors were glass.
The front centre panel and grille were steel and the guards were glass.
His guards certainly look like they have rust starting and if so they are different to mine.
The Golden Fleece truck is round on the waist line panel where it turns from front to rear mine was square with a trim piece on the vertical corner.

I own several Sturdy Stars from the Mid- Late '50s.
& the Cab from the Beltline up looks very similar to Me.
My Trucks have a Mix of Steel & Fibreglass mudguards,With the rest of the Cab being Steel.
