I had never seen the set forward air intakes on top of cab overs before. I presume that is to get them ahead of the dist kicked up by the steering axle???

Brocky,
Could be.
Had an Inter 2050 come in on the hook after dropping an oil filter, the oil was across the roof right up to the front edge. Wind does strange things.

Brocky, I believe it was to remove the intake from the lower pressure area. First used on K100s fitted with 8V92s, forty years ago.

Yup
all the dust stired up is sukd up the back of the cab
so U put the air inlet farther forward
to prevent clogg n the air cleaner
if U got a back window in the cab it is also good to have a glance at the window and check for oil or radiator water on the window
to indicate U need to pull ovr n chack the problem ........ eventually
LOL

Leyland ERGO cabs had those plastic scoops at the front/sides, supposed to stop spray from getting sucked back on your mirrors.
Dad made up similar metal scoops mounted across the top/back of the cabs to stop road grime on their back. Also forced cool air come in the rear slider.
