About that Pluto- in 1974 or maybe 75 that truck had a 6v71 installed at Detco when they were on Regency Road, Adelaide. Doug Hensche did the job. I'm pleased Nev managed to get a photo of it.

Thats interesting about the Deutz and the instamatic

Some people reportedly had terrible runs out of Deutz motors, while others swore by them

6v71 would of been less power but I guess there was a good reason for the change in what would of been a fairly new truck then

I remember Dad had his Polaroid camera and had a draw on his desk chockers with photos that us kids (maybe just me) used to love looking thru
When ever something new arrived or was built he would take a photo and bung it under his arm pit to deveolpe it with all of us kids lined up in front with cheesy grins

Very sadly for me, something happened to Dad, I have no idea what and never will know, but the long and the short of it is he turfed the lot except maybe 10 or so photos

I never forgave him for that

Anyway back to great photos

Photo and info from Rod Lane. Lanes Transport operated from 2nd Ave Unanderra where his photo was taken. The business was relocated to Melbourne and had depots also at Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide. They carted general freight until selling the business to Peko Wallsend in 1983.

I'm Pretty sure that Peko Wallsend Owned Toll Chadwick Transport at that Time Too..!!

The L series Dodge is a rarity in Oz, I don't think I have ever seen one in real time.
