I CAME INTO THIS WORLD WITH NOTHING & STILL HAVE MOST OF IT.........................
I used to be a truck driver,
but i am now not a truck driver ,
on a good day i can remember
that i used to be a truck driver.
.
.I could be totally wrong,.......but ...........i get the feeling that Kilpatricks just may
have had something to do with HD trucks .............

Neal Douglas photo. It looks like Billy P is correct about the owner and insignia of the HD truck. Liquid Cartage's Thornycoft also was repowered with a GM.
.Many moons ago, i was with The Liquid Cartage Co in Camelia ,Sydney( owned by the Kilpatrick family )
At the time i believe they were agents for Guy Trucks and had a few of them with what looked like that cab.
Now, have a look at the insignia on the passengers door of that truck..............
From what i can see , ( ....not really too much .........)
That sure looks very similar to the flying barrel that adorned the rear of every Liquid Cartage tanker...........
I used to have a few pockets from our white overalls with the barrel insignia on , but have lost them........
Yeah i would be interested to get a clear shot of that door to see if thats the case.......

P/S ... Liquid Cartage were GM fans , so that could tie up too....................

Your better to die trying than live on your knees begging
Replied by Mrsmackpaul on topic HD Truck
Grandad I am surprised that these didn't sell any good, or at least I have never seen one
For 1959 that was big power for Australia and should of sold like hot cakes

I think the Logo on the Door is for Liquid Cartage.. !!
I seem to remember reading (somewhere)something about them not being able to buy what they wanted so had a Go a Building what they wanted & the HD was the result..
But as always I stand to be corrected..

The cab is Guy so wonder if it is simply a Guy glider kit or if they made their own chassis.

That rings a bell. Didn't they buy direct from Guy, sans engine and gearbox?

Yeah ...very interesting..........
When i was with Liquid Cartage at Camelia (Sydney) ...i knew of ,.... but never saw those Guys.........
There was two of those cabs on 6 wheeler rigid tanks on local work, but didnt have GMs in them......
They really loved the old GMs.......and had quite a lot of re powered Thorneys..........
One i drove for a while on local was a long nose single drive with a 371 GM dragging a flat top trailer
with two tanks bolted on........Didnt have a lot of power, but sounded great..........
Got sprayed with Sulphuric once when a hose burst . that was a bit of a close shave..........
Another cab over single drive Thorney with a 671 went pretty good for the time........
Was driven by Kevin Granger (the quiet man )........i would say GDay Kev....and about ten minutes
later (after rolling his fag ) he would say........GDay Willie........
Yeah ....they were good to work for...........
