An early Ford V8 as a baker's delivery wagon ... no driver's door, but a weather shield fitted. This was my grandfather's bakery.

They are great Beaver, wouldn't be surprised if they are photo's from Truck and Bus, the Albion with the agitator was in a 1950's Truck and Bus, and a lot of the others the background has been cut out which would suggest a bit of commercial artwork. Not so much with the first album, but the ones with the Albions certainly seem to have been taken by a professional with a good eye to what he wanted in the back ground as well.

I am trying to remember the vans used for milk and bread deliveries from about 1960. Up to then, in both South Melbourne and Balwyn, horse vehicles were used, and the horse would plod along while the driver made the deliveries. Motorising slowed the process, as the driver had to keep jumping in and out. I am fairly sure that they had no doors, because they were run by one person. Milk deliveries were usually standing orders, with only occasional variations. Bread deliveries could be different each day. My mother had a set of flash cards, which she set to order of the day. My memory is that the vans were smaller than the Bedford model which was used for newspaper deliveries to newsagencies (and I recall were also doorless, for the same reason).
There was no second round of motorised van: home delivery ceased.
Loy soft drinks ran deliveries or sales through the 1960s, using medium-size tray trucks (I suspect Bedfords), with crates on racks.

I have seen a preserved newspaper Bedford at a rally, but not a preserved bread or milk van. The era came after the Morris J had been superseded, but before Japanese light- commercial vehicles were in vogue.

Will have to ask my old man when he gets back this week from holidaying as he worked for Woodruff's Dairies in Port Melbourne, i can remember going into work with him when i was realy young and watching the bottles being washed on this massive machine (late 60's early 70's) also delivery the milk out to the dairies one was near were Highpoint is now.

This is the old mans story from the hall of fame.
