These photos of our old Federal truck may be of interest. I believe it is around a 1939 model. Interesting to note how some of the optional extras have been removed over the years.

This must have been just after it arrived on the farm. I think it came from around Texas. It was driven back closely following the car in front, as the lights did not work and they couldn't make it home before dark.

This scaffolding was used to build the shed in the background. By this point doors, windscreen, engine panels and body have been removed and fuel tank moved to the roof to eliminate the need for a fuel pump.

Another Harvest.

The whole cab has gone by now, but a bulk bin has been added along with a fire engine red paint job. The floor of the bin only sloped down to one side rather than both sides as on a normal A bottom bin, so more of the weight was on the right hand side and a block of wood under the right hand spring was needed to remain upright.

The same truck at the present time, in the same shed it helped to erect.

You have got a great old worker there, hopefully will be restored one day. Is that a Fordson major tractor in the photo?

Love they way they updated the old girl along the way by just changing the fuel tank.

What are the plans for the old girl.

Would look at getting it up on blocks so the wheels are not stuck in the dirt, you will end up with them rusted out.

The truck will be brought back to working condition one day. It hasn't sunk into the dirt like it appears in the photo just some grain spilt around the front wheel.

The tractor in the original photo is a Fordson power Major, which was eventually traded in on a new MF175. The tractor in the recent photo is a Fordson Super Major which was aquired within the last 10 yrs.

Hi David, Do you still have the Federal. I Have an earlier Federal (1935) which originally came from around your area. I think it was between Allora and Clifton on the back road. I have had it since 1963 and for over 20 years was used every harvest.
Does yours still go? I will contact you. - Kav.

Were the front guards cut out to stop the black soil from fowling the front wheels in the wet
