Home made wheat bins came in several versions. Those usually seen have a longitudinal vee with a number of trap doors running along each side. The idea was that you drive over the silo receival grid and open them all up and wheat drains out by gravity. No longer acceptable at silos on OH&S grounds. They are a pain if you are trying to transfer grain on farm cos you can't aim where the grain goes. The one in the picture would be a bottom dump as you suggest, but more useful ones would have an auger running the length of the vee and feeding out the back.
