Jeffo I recently found a copy and it’s an interesting read.

I'd rather have tools that I don't need, than not have the tools I do need.

Some good info about industry during the war years.
The “Can do” attitude was wonderful, not at all like today where more funds are spent researching a project than actually building it.

Replied by Lang on topic A sort of Holden & GMH History
Jeffo

While the will was there to get the job done the cost blowouts, uncontested contract awards, failed projects would fill the newspapers' front page and keep 60 Minutes going for years if it happened today - Oh sorry, it is happening.

One thing that did happen during the war was General Motors, Ford etc etc did not lose money.

As a little kid I always wanted a Holden wagon like my ol man who bought a new one every year from 1963 EK to the last one he bought a 1977 HZ. I would often go to the dealership with him to pick up the brand new car with that new car smell.
He later bought a few GM trucks from them, the most memorable one being a Chevy C60 Luton Peak furniture pan.
The dealers usually gave me stuff to take home. I wish I had kept most of it.

But did keep later brochures and price lists. The most treasured thing they gave me was this book.

Funny things you remember.

so roKWiz,
Hit us with a few unknown facts, or stories, from the book.

I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,

Now I find I can't do any work in this position!
