Here is a simpler device in action.
A lot of buses are kneeling to start with.
I never did photograph one which the operator demonstrated for me specially at Long Beach years ago. It was power extendable/retractable on the rear door.
Most people on tram forums don't like retractable: too slow, and too prone to jamming.

Coors brewery is one of the major tourist attractions in Denver. It is in Golden, a suburban accessible by urban buses. I linked it the railroad museum, not far away and on the same bus route. See

There is a whole fleet of decorated midibuses to shuttle visitors from the carpark to the visitor-centre. Here is just one. It is also the last of my USA ones which I have prepared for this thread.

In reference to the truck chassis as bus observation.

The Coors bus above clearly demonstrates that thought.

The first passenger side window has all but the door hanging in the frame.

All the nessisary running gear, from the drivers seat/ windscreen forward would most probaly be straight out off the truck assembly line. Easy future spares.

Good additional contributions RBS.

There are European equivalents - the MB Sprinter was always available as cowl/chassis for bus bodywork. The below is operated by Egged in Israel on low density routes.

the below was in use here (Vienna) until it was replaced by electro-buses. Specially built chassis with air suspension (tilt).

They still need a draw out ramp for wheelchair access though (as is the case for the larger buses, all fitted with air suspension).
