The computer will shut the engine down if the coolant is low or oil is low, sensor not working or even if a fly is sitting on the engine. The moden driver dosen't know what the engine is let alone how to change gears or load a trailer. Swishy will you be able to load a machine and pull the curtain to hold the load in. The modern Drover dosen't know what a chain and dog is let alone what you use a rope and trap for. At K&S we had B Double steering wheel attendants that couldn't check to see if the trailers were connected.

Your dead right. There a few operators over here starting to go back to older rebuilt gear for reliabilty / fix it yourself type trucking.
I think the cost of new gear is really putting the squeeze on some to.
It makes me wonder sometimes about how we used to shift alot of dirt with an 903 powered ACCO and semi tipper. Now the boys are using new linehaul primemovers with 525hp + dragging an ali tipper around town. This would be why there doing 16 hours days and punching each other in the nose fighting over work.
