I was pushing a bit of scrub with my B2275 when a stick took one of the ports off of the power steering ram. I had new extensions and hoses made up and a leaky seal replaced, fitted it back up to the tractor and now I can only turn right. No amount of swinging off the wheel will get it to turn the front wheels to the left.
The steering wheel will spin freely without the ram connected and the wheels will flop from lock to lock (with the tractor raised), so the problem is not in the mechanical steering components. I have reversed the hoses and the same thing happens. With the ram disconnected from the front wheels it still stops at half way and refuses to extend any further.
Have I put something together back to front or is the problem inside the ram?

Yes. It appears to be broken.

I reckon in the valve body theres a ball that floats between two ports and the pressure decides which way

On a totally different tractor I had this after fitting new seals
I just made sure the ball was in the middle and held with grease until it was started

Yours might have nothing like this at all but thats what I have found

Boggy ....(thats a good name !!!!!)
Trouble shooting from afar is always a challenge ...............

With the hoses disconnected, will the shaft travel the full length of the cylinder ??????????
........( meaning, ..... is the piston jamming in the barrel .?????)

Is there an adjustment for the controll valve travel at the ram front. ???????????

Also have a bopeep at the ball joint ....(.controll valve to steering arm at front of ram )...........
That doesnt look to be situated too good.................
Maybe the ball should be in another inch or so......i am thinking this could be jamming
the control valve spool and that is creating your problem............MAYBE...........

If you google "Vickers steering ram" you should find a few different exploded views that might be similar, and perhaps of some help.

......Boggy...............
..................Not knowing exactly what your gismo looks like........but..........
A lot of people have been caught out by thinking that the control valve movement is free play
and screwed the adjustment up (if there is one ) to compensate ..........
End result of that is mostly a turn to one lock only ............
..............But of corse that may not be your case.................
