AT4114,
Your certainly putting in the work to get her up to scratch. I noticed the drivers door does not have a key lock in it, so if you want to put it in they are not very hard to do. I found another one and copied the passenger door hole and got it working before I painted mine. To paint my doors I set up an old sheet of ply and screwed the hinges to it and it made it easier to paint the doors. Hope this helps. Keep plugging away it will be a looker when it's finished.
Cheers Mac.

Thanks for the top idea Mac57 I shall be copying you when it comes time to paint the doors :) hi oldgmc I'm a motor trimmer by trade up until now I have always had a panel shop do any work but on this project I thought I would bite the bulit and buy a small mig welder and some very basic panel beating tools and give it a go fingers crossed it will turn out half decent as its not going to be a show pony just a daily driver cheers Bryant :)

Bryant, how do you find the stripping discs on the grinder. do they heat the panel steel. I've been spraying etch primer first then bog, bog is porous. keep it up. boris ;)

Hi Boris the strip discs are fantastic they don't heat the metal so there's no warping and they leve a nice smooth finish and the bonus is they don't clog up like sandpaper one disc has striped 2 doors at $17.00 per disc it not to expensive . I first found out about the discs by watching a few resto jobs by fellow forum member V8 inter nut cheers Bryant ;)

Another little update the rust repairs are finished to the underside of the drivers door and have been given a skim coat of fiberglass body filler to fill in any small pin holes during the welding process and the glass filler is also non pourous So it's a good base for the body filler I've also welded up the west coast mirror holes on the door and tapped out a few small dents cheers Bryant :)
