Hi Guys,
We have our "Lorry" which is a 1991 FC1491A model Hino with a WO6D 6 cylinder engine. Ha has a beavertail and carries our toys, mostly tractors about to various Rallies and some local show days. Since owning Lorry the bottom door hinge has been, let's say, less than good! There is some wear and tear and as you drive along our lovely roads the doors rattles a lot and now is the time to do something about it. It wasn't until I took these photos that I noticed a plastic/nylon bush and it displays that replacement may fix all my issues.
So the questions are,
1 - Is there a repair kit available to fix this problem?
OR
2 -Do I make some replacement bushes and then out of brass or something similar?
OR
3 - Cut out all the old stuff and drill it oversized and put a high tensile pin through the lot?

So the pics show the offending nylon bush at the bottom and the other slightly unclear pic shows the bottom of the hinge pin which is pressed over and would have to be cut off to get it out.

I forgot to mention that I have a metal lathe and almost the ability to make pins and bushes but I am in a "learning" mode but enjoying it and have a lot of patience. :woohoo:

Give HIM a call as they are available new, non genuine. www.himspares.com.au/products/isuzu

I'd rather have tools that I don't need, than not have the tools I do need.

So far I have sent internet enquiries to them but no reply as yet. I'll give them until mid next week and then ring them if I need to.

Hi Cobba,

You can try BRETTS Spares in Wyong for all your Hino bits. Great to deal with and if they don't have the parts in stock, they usually get genuine parts overnight and direct to you.

Looks like the easy way out is to just buy a new hinge. After looking at the thing the more I thought about it and the complexity of splitting a bush that is pressed into place then ream it out to suit a pin/bolt.

Thank you Steve

Checked out 2 suppliers for a new hinge and went with Bretts Parts (HIM). Delivered is $34.00 which is the asking price of the other site then add GST and delivery.
Thanks Steve.
