Burracoppin is a long way from Kalgoorlie. Burracoppin is 20kms East of Merredin, and is 280kms from Perth, along Hwy 94 (Gt Eastern Hwy).
Kalgoorlie is 600kms from Perth, so the truck is closer to Perth than Kalgoorlie.

Farm trucks from these dry, hot, inland areas are good buying. They are usually in very good shape, and the bodies/cabs are good, with no rust problems .. unless it's been working on a farm with salt flats on it. Burracoppin is relatively salt free, it's all red loam country.

When you buy a truck on farm plates, it means you have to upgrade to full rego status if it stays in W.A. .. unless you own a farm and can qualify for farm use.
If the vehicle is still licenced (even on Farm plates, which are classed as a "concession" licence) .. the seller has to fill in an ownership transfer form, same as any licenced vehicle.
If moving the vehicle to another State, this transfer form will usually need to be sighted and examined in any other States licencing office, as part of proving ownership for re-licencing purposes. If the vehicle is staying in W.A., the transfer form is posted to DOT W.A., and they send out a new rego form, with a bill for stamp duty and transfer charge included.
If you're not eligible for any concession licence, they will advise that you have to upgrade to full licence status immediately, before they will issue a licence in your name.

If the truck is still licensed (even on Farm plates), and you want to drive it to any location in W.A. .. or the Eastern States .. you can do so, on the current registration plates (carry the transfer form to prove you haven't stolen it, to any nosey coppers .. :) ).
The number plates will need to be returned to the owner upon reaching your destination, or the owner is fined $100 for non-return of number plates. They are getting pretty harsh on this, nowadays.

If the vehicle is sold unlicensed, you can get a "temporary movement permit" for any location within W.A., from any DOT WA licencing office, or cop shop, stating the location of pickup, and the destination.

These TMP's are only valid for 48 hrs .. and the movement has to be for repair, preparatory for licencing .. or to a licencing centre, for vehicle examination.
Any deviation from the route stated is a chargeable offence, and no load of any kind is to be carried.
You have to give a statutory declaration upon TMP application, that the vehicle is roadworthy and that all brakes and lights work.
If you're caught on the road with something that is unroadworthy, even if you have a permit, there will be charges laid, same as any fully-registered vehicle.

Remember that you can only licence a vehicle in the State that your drivers licence is listed in .. unless you're registering it in a corporate name.
Bear in mind also, that if the licence is current, you may not have to present for inspection in another State.

The law in W.A. has recently changed, allowing vehicles licenced in another State to be re-registered in W.A., without inspection.
I'm presuming that this is the case in other States .. but I'm not 100% sure on that angle.

Proof of ownership is rapidly becoming more strictly enforced, to counter theft and re-birthing. Take along every piece of paper you have, relevant to transfer of ownership, when you go to licence the vehicle.

The new law in WA only applies if YOU have owned the vehicle for a period of 12 months or more and have had it registered in YOUR name in another state.
