we're now proud owners of a new old truck 79 d1310 345, generally in good order but in need of indicator lenses, maybe brake drums- shoes, steering box, bonnet badge etc. where's the place to go for parts around west of Melb :)

Welcome to the forum, these parts are pretty common and you should not have too much trouble. If you send a PM ( private message) to a fellow on this forum called Podge 66 he can probably help you but he is on the eastern side of Melb.
That 345 engine is probably a later addition as the D1310 usually came with a 6-281 or 6-282 engine.

:)Welcome to the forum and glad to see you bought a good aussie brand truck. Indicator lenses can be bought at Bursons or Repco. In the hella book or Narva . Steering boxes are hard to get a good one, brake shoes get them relined at any brake place, drums machined at brake place if still in size. :D podge

Thanks all, yes having much enjoyment to date. another 1 for ya tho, what about little plastic gromets/sleeve that hold wire like shaft, " connects door mechanism to door latch" also looking for steering wheel, mine has large cracks in it. :-/

steering wheels seem to be expensive to repair comercially, but results can be stunning.
poor chaps like me resort to 2 pack stuff like araldite or some of those maleable fillers that when set can be filed drilled and machined.... there were some reports in the TOMM magazine of these being very sucessul on tractor steering wheels.

Good luck

hey sarge,

With that, do you need to open up the crack then fill. I tried it with my steering wheel using araldite but the hair lines are still there.

Cheers Bono.

Bono, I had a couple of steering wheels done this way and been very successful you must grind out out the cracks then use the 2 pack filler , shape it and finaly paint it hopes this helps . Dave

POR make a product specifically for fixing wheels

www.por15.com/prodinfo.asp?grp=SWRK&dept=11

A cheaper method would be to fill and spray with 2pac.
