hey guys im starting to get ready to restore on of my ex pmg telecom f model back to original so i was wondering if anyone had any pics of these old girls.
this old girl has a 285 mack motor on 44000 pound camel back with 4.17 diff ratios all behind a mack 6 sp twin stick maxitorque transmition. i bought 2 of these old girls off a local that was doing turf deliveries with them they have both been working as water trucks for the past 10 years but not its time to restore one.

RE: what's the script

Looks like 'CLB'
mack had a habit way back when to include the initials of the new owners on the horn button of the new Mack beast
when we were kids back about 100 years ago
we always refered to PMG (Post Masters General??) az
Pigs Meat n Gravy
Me thort they had a Mack Float for each State if not more
where by they used the rig to cart the Cat Dozer set up az a cable layer, like setn up the coaxial cable B tween Melb n Sinee
We were called out a few times to help m move there gear as there vehicle was not available
but we never took any pix coz twaz jist a common load way back when

LOL

Nope, no piccies, the only thing I can remember about them is that one of them ( about 1980/2 ) had a head on with a car, just north of Cooroy, think you can guess the outcome of that lot. Turned out the Telecom driver was cutting corners and he was duly charged.
The trucks then were painted white, the exact same colour as that one Prodrive put up. They always seemed to be attached to a 4 x 4 built by Allison, with a two metre spread in the quad, no dolly used that I can remember.
Saw one parked up at Gympie for brekky one day, usual combo, 4 x 4, fully loaded with the load tied down with chains, even used dogs back then, load was plainly visible in the middle of the deck.

The load was an "effin" VICTA lawn mower, :o bound for Mackay, no $hit, true story.

Money was no object back then, the dough was all yours, so spend it.
