1927 Vulcan restoration. was created by Rob Buckel
Hi Everyone,
This is my first post on the forum so I hope it comes out ok and is in the right place!
I'm restoring a 1927 Vulcan VSW 6x4 and am looking for parts: Radiator, Vulcan X3 17.9hp engine, wheels, anything really.
It seems to be quite a rare truck and I only know of one other, does any one know of any more?

Thanks for the replies guys. I had seen that Vulcan on the other thread, great looking truck but its a little earlier than mine.
A lot of british companys made experimental 6x4's in 1927 for trials with the army, they were all built around a war dept spec rear axle assembley.
I'll try post some pictures as soon as i work out how.

Vulcans from the solid wheel era were not uncommon in Australia. There are at least two, if not four restored in Victoria, The remains of another is in Rockampton, and Elgindale has a radiator. See Restored Cars magazine 193 & 194; May 2009 for the fascinating restoration story.
The army spec one with pneumatic tyres is likely to be a prototype or limited production. Most of the 1930's army equipment went to France in 1940 and were sacrificed at Dunkirque.

Thanks for the replies guys,
Mammoth, i think you're right, it was a very limited production run. Most of them built just for trials. The military Vulcans of this type were sold off in to private hands in the early 1930's.
They VSW was available commercially from 1930, built for the overseas market, i'm not sure if any made it to Australia.
deadly dave, are the ones you have seen similar to this?
This is a picture of the one i have, taken in the 1960's when it was first rescued for preservation.

And this is how i bought it last November, bit of a mess!
