Seized brake drum on Hank. was created by Hank the Truck
Hi guys,
I thought Hank my 1956 Karrier Gamecock may have had a seized bearing on the LH front wheel, but it now appears the drum brake is frozen.
Ive removed the hub and the bearings are all nice and new, but cant turn the drum portion, any advice on how to get the drum case off?

Terry it sounds like a seized wheel cly and only way to them off is to tap it off with a hammer on the edge of the drum or you coud try a puller but I like the hammer as you can tap all the way around it will take time but will come off.
Ps I have not forgot your maps . Dave

Cheers Dave,
I sort of thought that was the way I had to go, with the hammer and tap right around. Thanks for confirming mate.
No worries Dave, Appreciate you thinking about me anyway.

If you haven't already, might pay to take the brake pipe off and the bleeder out.
Doing that, it may even release and the pistons may be able to return a little as you tap the drum gently.

According to the Commer website, 120 Gamecocks and around 500 Bantams came into Australia in 1956 - 58, Bantams were more Popular in Aust, the Gamecock in NZ.
I believe there are only 2 Gamecocks roadworthy in Aust, mine being 1. There are a handful of Bantams on the road.
