I came across this Inter R220 abandoned at a levy in New Orleans, had a Cummins in it, same cab as my old R180, too far to bring home as I lived in Virginia, looked like it would just need some batteries, not sure about the back window.

great reading these stories, necessity really is the mother of invention, a small incident I had along the road to the Blanchetown ferry was when my BSA Golden flash threw a conrod though the front of the engine, I propped it up against a fence and got a lift into town, couldn't contact anybody so after several beers drawing little diagrams on the bar with my finger dipped in beer I figured the machine should run on one cylinder, so got a lift back to where I left the bike, nobody stole stuff much in those days, unhooked the plug wire, tied the bent rod up with a bit of fencing wire, hammered a bit of wood into the oil hole in the crank, as I was still on a bit of a hill I let it roll until I got a bit of speed and let the clutch out. To my delight the engine started and off I went, oink oink down the road, the plug soon came out of the crank and I was getting a squirt of oil on my shoe, kept it running while on the ferry to the other side to a petrol station, filled up with fuel and bought a gallon of oil, got me home to Renmark!! 8-) which proves that beer enhances the brains ability to solve problems, contrary to what the pikers believe ;D

I remember when the pink Perkins came out and they were fitted to everything with wheels, but the bolts in the conversion plate were always coming loose and jamming up the flywheel, might want to use Loctite on them, good little engine.

One of the things Len Tuit taught me as a kid offsiding with him on the Alice/Darwin run was whenever you did a tyre check to place your hand on the trailer axle hubs to check for heat.
