Truck rolls and explodes with Ammonium Nitrate

Saw Qld Fire and Rescue site this morning talking about Firefighters had been evacuated to hospital following an explosion 30km South of Charleville at 10pm Friday night. Explosion was felt by residents in Charleville.
Fortunately no-one killed but 8 people injured.

Wishing the firefighters a speedie recovery. How is the truck driver doing is he ok.

I wonder what they were doing anywhere near a burning pile of ammonium nitrate, unless they were quickly trying to get away once they had determined the cargo..

Rule 1: Remove yourself to a safe distance from the burning pile..

I was watching the ABC news, & they read a Statement from the Company that owned the Truck.

I'm glad they had the sense to get away from it.
After seeing the coroners report on the Taroom incident when I helped Oldfulla research it, the truck is a lot more intact than the one at Taroom was. And they reckoned it was only a few tonnes of it that actually blew up at Taroom, so I'd guess it is the same here, hence the 2KM exclusion zone while they let it burn out.
Unreal the power isn't it? to just blow the bridge away.

The railway line looks a bit sad as well..
