Last of the 6V 92's...

G'day

92's are available for military and naval projects.
We installed 4 new 6V92 genset a two years ago. Sourced through MTU Detroit
Defence like them on gensets. Having a power stroke every turn they produce a smoother alternator output....apparently.

Yep, certainly do. Having fire on every stroke means a quicker reaction to changing loads and less cyclic loading of the crank and rotor shafts.

The military likes them because you can have a 6, 8, 12 or 16 cylinder engine and only have to carry one set of parts, not to mention the incredibly simple and robust design.

.......so in an ''over the road'' TRUCK offered IN AUSTRALIA, as averse to the ''off highway'' military stuff.......are we looking at around 1987-88??...yeah?? :-? :-?

Found this:
"The 92 series went out of the Market since summer of 1995 and the Four Stroke Detroit Diesel Engine was introduced as a replacement".
That's over there, we in oz seemed to no longer use them from about 1990 in trucks but the last i can find in a bus or coach appears to be as late as 2003!!!! ;)
