Hi Roland ,Yeah mate every things bigger over here.! Bridge weight= legal weight. I guess swishy is like us , cant afford to buy new lightweight trucks made out of plastic and aluminium.,We had a cwa45 UD tipper that was flat out carrying 12 ton legal ,though my leyland mastiff was legal for almost 13 and a half tons but at 170 hp that 13 speed RR got a good workout . ian.

they have had trubles in weighing big equipment so the biggest plate I've seen a 16 foot wide x 4 feet @ Broardford on the hume Hwy Vicroads truck checking site (bout 1 hour Nth of Melbourne)

Thanks for the info.
So thats another translation, Bridge Weight = Legal Weight...

We have loads of weighbridges over here.
Most towns have at least one, usually at Feed Mills, vehicle testing stations, and landfill sites, they are static weighers.
They are usually about 10 x 3 m, a solid cast steel baseplate mounted on load cells. The older ones work on mechanical levers and display on large round dial.
The Ministry also use mobile units to catch the overweight vehicles coming in from the European mainland.
These are small drive-on Electronic pads which transmit to a wireless reader.

Cheers
RS :)
