A mate is doing up a Kenworth K125. The Cummins big cam engine is up for a full rebuild but he is considering swapping out the 14 speed Spicer and is thinking of fitting an automatic.
Question is which auto is suitable and does not require a computer to drive it. Load capacity is supposed to be no more than 30 tonne tops for carting vintage tractors on.

Since I know absolutely nothing about running gear for trucks, I trust that there is a Power Glide for trucks and not the one out of a Holden!
Therefore I need to ask who makes this auto please?

Cobbadog, Your mate will need to install an Allison Automatic If he decides to go that route..

www.allisontransmission.com/

The Aussie Defence Force had some Trucks fitted with Allison Autos behind Cummins' back in the day..

Cheers hayseed,
I recently had a look online for Allison autos but did not which model would be required. Sorry to be a nuisance but is there a specific model auto he should consider?
thanks again in advance.

IMHO put a Roadranger in it, 9 or 10 speed. Time will tell.

I'd rather have tools that I don't need, than not have the tools I do need.

Can recall dad had a Allison in a Atkinson when working for Hutmil at Pakenham behind a v692 and a few hills flown at Shoreham you had to reverse down as it would hold gears to hold over the top

Rough guess something along the lines of a HT750, there are a few versions with and without retarders.
Think the newer versions are 1000, 2000 , 3000, Somewhere in there they went to computer control on the trans.

I know nothing about any of these at all but from all road tests the like of Truck and Bus magazine did
Allison auto tested really well and a lot of the time as good if not better than a road ranger

I would think anything from the 70's to the early 90's would be fine

I guess what size Cummins would have a lot to do with what trans you would fit as torque and HP ratings
