Sulfur is also dissolved in oil.......at the BP refinery there were mountains of sulfur stored that was refined out of fuel ,when the low sulfur fuels came in .....Very likely still there ,as I dont think there was much market for it in Aus,there being virtually no chemical industry left here.

Yes, the sulphur has been difficult to get rid of for many years and with lower sulphur specs more of it is being pulled out by the refineries. It is used to make sulphuric acid which was used mainly by the fertiliser industry, but not too many of them left.
