That style ACCO and onwards looked and felt so modern compared to any other offering on the market at the time
Even in the early 80's they were still a huge leao ahead of most other trucks of the time, but once the Jap trucks got some power into them there was no holding them back

The ACCO was the longest produced truck model in the world I believe, well over 40 years

I think claims about longest produced are just smoke and mirrors. Many long lived models kept the same name - Unimog is one that comes to mind at about 70 years. Ford F trucks are another.

It is possible Corolla is the longest living car model but when comparing the beaut little 1960's winner with the 2020's model of the same name I doubt a single screw would be interchangeable.

The VW Beetle is probably the closest with the basic design just being upgraded over many decades although close inspection would reveal, apart from the shape, very little the same between the first and the last.

Anyhow it is a toss up between keeping a proven good selling name to give people confidence or risk losing sales because they "are still selling those old ACCO's"

I think it wasn't just the make and model name but the same basic cab that was been referred to

And I seem to recall it was only in haevy trucks that was mentioned
