Wasn't the 240 engine from the same family as the 300 " Big Six" as in some of the F models? If so, wonder why they didn't go for the bigger engine, still same o/d dimensions of the engine?

Dave we bought one at an army auction in Townsville in about 1984 and it had a 300 in it. It wasnt the original engine so maybe the army mechanics had repowered it.

There is one there with the Cargo cab......through the years the army Fords went from petrol D400s,to diesel D500s and 0911s,to Cargos with the 380 motor......supposedly all supplied under the same contract......although some of the later trucks may be replacements for written off trucks.
