Look n @ Brads Extendable has given me inspiration to show my Extendable project

Our old 1970's Fruehauf Extendable was 37' (11.28m)- 57' (17.37m)
all trailers from way back when were altered to cart @ least a 40' container
to make the trailer more user friendly twaz gunna B a big project
<1> We underslung the suspension (to cut down deck height
<2> fitted lo pro 22.5 tyres
<3> Made anew sub frame for the sliding bogie , with the spre tyre carrier fitted in front of bogie to slide with RSend
<4> Cut the cheker plate deck off & make cross members level with main beam
<5> Extend the main deck plus the extendable slider beam to over 40' each
<6>Made the sliding bogie sub frams slide 6m forward from rear
<7> Make new short 3m low pro gooseneck
<8> all the new deck now with 3mm checker plate floor with reinforcing between each cross member
<9> fit a remote control HD 4x4 electric winch with an endless rope to help slide bogie forwards or backwards ... reason being the law sez with out steerable RSend ax length upto 30m
& with the KW 1/2 truck of 3m bumper to K/Pin the trailer length is about 27m from K/Pin to rear bumper ... also to navigate the beast thru narrow driveways etc we drag bogie forward to lesson the trailer RSend cutting corners
We also made some links to convert trailer from a flattop to a dropdeck ....... all steel used was high tensile foe the project

It was one of the options in design
but we went against it ..... mainly the main beam is 400mm deep that means the rear deck would still B 400mm off the ground
if we tapered the main beam ... it would need 2 B tapered for about 4000mm and we would need to extend the trailer 4000mm for the deck to hit the ground

I have a question too.

Swishy, in the photo with the container. How do you get the shed floor so smooth?

we can't aford a nice smooth flat concrete floor so our projects are done on sum level steel plates
comes in handy as I draw to scale on the plate n make the dodadd to suit

Thanx for your interest guys

A few teething problems
the winch dyneems 1/2" rope keeps stretchin it has a capacity of 12000kg ..... the winch is good for 8000kg
the trailer set as a flat top tends to lift weight off the trailer front axle .... I expect this is due to the new suspension rocker bushes dun up tight

Swishman I have another question if I may

On the place of knowledge aka "Facebook" some people get all wound up about a 3.7 meter over hang from the center of the axle group and it looks this might be ever bit of that, has this ever been a issue ?

I have a trailer that hangs out every bit of that and more, (quite a bit more) and I have never had a issue and have never been questioned
