If it was 477 powered and bogey drive it might be worth half that money but with that liability under the bonnet and single drive it is worth about $1000 to someone who REALLY wants it.

It's a bit of a bitsa isn't it. That V8 Perkins looks like it was out of a D1000, in the early 80's someone down south was importing D 1000's from England with V8 Perkins in them, my father had one. The ZF power steering isn't origonal either.

600Dodge has said it all. The V8 Perkins has reduced the value of the truck, not increased it. Perkins have abandoned any support for the V8 engines, both 540 and 640, and for good reason. They want it to be forgotten as soon as possible.

like most perkins these engines they arnt that bad ..i was running a leyland mastiff with a 540 V8 10sp O/D roadranger & a 2 speed diff . . it was good on fuel never missed a beat . . i do have a suspicion that the V8 in the looslybuilt is a perkins 510 ..id rather the perkins in it than the 477 boat anchor ...usually when you see a ford with that engine the add usually says "engine needs work"

I hadn't heard any bad reports, the ones out of the Pommie D series where 540's. They rev pretty well to, a bit of a decider if your swapping with a petrol motor.

The tare weight is 4.3 T, I would have thought it weighed more than that.

i actually messaged the guy last week on epay about the truck i also doubt that the tray is 24ft? ..it looks like a reasonable truck for the $ ..at least it has character .. also from memory most single axle rigid loosleybuilts seem to have a GVM of around 11.5 tons .. a lot of things dont add up ... just like the "210' perkins ..the 210hp V8 perkins was the 540 turbo the perkins in that would be around 170hp
