Is this Gary Darlington?

Thanks, I thought so. A lot of water has flown under the proverbial bridge since I last saw him at Comet. Does anybody know of Dennis Fraile who used to work for Gary when he was a subbie for Comet. He went out on his own and bought a D2F Dodge pulling pans for Vaughans later on. Huge mistake as everyone knows.

Richie put a couple of similar photos in the 'Old Kwikasair SAR's' thread, but these are Comet jiggers so I've put them in the Comet thread.
Sorry Werkhorse, I don't know the fleet numbers for these.

Ready to roll. Literally, if you get my drift.

Went to this years Vic Truckies reunion and stayed with an ex Comet Employee then long time Subby Grizz Flemming. Whilst there the albums came out and what you will see here is the great Comet collection of Grizz, with all credit to him for taking the time to both let us see them and for taking these great action shots in the first place.

S-Line fleet No.PA285 or 286 ... both were test/evaluation trucks that had many driveline changes to test fuel efficiency

PA306 ... one of the early LTLs

3PA161 .... early SAR originally in peaches & cream but later painted Comet

A few pages back and a few years ago Brownie asked when the realignment across the top of Pretty Sally occurred. The was no definitive answer at the time but I just came across some info from a CRB Annual Report for 1961-2 that looks to provide the answer.....

Substantial progress was made in the provision of wider and safer facilities for
modern traffic needs. The following major works are some examples of the progressive
development achieved :-
.
.
.
(h) the duplication of the Hume Highway over Pretty Sally Hill in the Shire
of Kilmore eliminating a steep curved section which has long been a
bottleneck on this interstate route.

Not sure If everyone here knows of the Passing of Bob Troughton recently. i am writing an Article about Bob's career and was wondering If anyone here has any info on bob after he came off the road in 1975 until his reirement. I know he became NSW Linehaul manager for Comet ... but not much of anything else.

Cheers
