Thats one way to keep the weight down, Just leave the doors off.

For some reason the NT Fire Brigade ordered the trucks to be supplied as "tropical cabs" without doors. They forgot that it rained in Darwin in the wet season and it was bluddy cold in Alice Springs in the winter! The low profile ERF shown didn't even have a back wall to the cab ... it was open to the rear.

The ACCO LPV trucks had a different chassis, tapering off at either end to bring the height down. A lot comes down to tray design also but i think the use of very low profile tyres in recent years has made a dedicated LPV chassis unnecessary.

Hi There, just hoping a few of you can help me out.
Im wanting to find out what brands or models of LPV vehicles are out there. I know International made one the 1850 in single drive, and i think i have seen reference to one made by Isuzu which i think was single drive too. So what others do you all know about and are there any bogie drive ones out there?. Thanks for you help.

Chevfan,

There were offerings from White:

... and Mack (MB)

which were sold as garbage truck chassis everywhere but in the weird Israeli market...

Of course, many European trucks were of that configuration in the first place (they did not start thinking about highline trucks until the late 50s).

Cheers,

T
