Here is a few more photos of the truck.

It was stripped of many parts when I found it, as it had been sitting in a yard for quite a few years. The motor and gearbox where gone, along with most things that people could unbolt and walk away with.

I managed to locate most of the original parts and put it all back together as it was.

As I found it

Looking good!

Shame won't see it at the display this year. :'(

Hey Swishy and other wise ones, I have a question.
I have a fuel tanker (still to be restored) with the fifth wheel pin similar to the one in your picture (reply #2 above).
My Mack has a normal??? turntable. Is there an easy way to mate these two up? The trailer is set up for a ballrace and I've been told that I cannot have a double flex connection. ie I would have to fix the turntable so it could not move.
It sounds like I've explained it as clear as mud - sorry. :(

Sorry I aint up 2 speed on tankers
as U do need special licence n registration for flammables (me thinks)
but until they make flammable water U should B OK to cart sum aqua pura

Early tankers had double oscillating 5th wheels
but me thinks they outlawed them cos too many tanks were flopping over, as the sideways oscillator had no resistance to keep the rig upright.

www.dangelo.com.au/fifth-wheel-assembly.asp?product=DoubleOsc

a quickrealease 5th wheel mounted on a ballrace normally have a removerable pin so U have a choice for the trailer to turn on the top plate of 5th wheel or the bottom ball race

when turning on the bottom ballrace u also need a block under the skid plate on trailer to prevent the topplate turning as the hole 5th wheel unit could gradually turn.

Q: is this above mud clear?

LOL

OK Swishy. Thanks for telling me what its called. A double oscillating.
No. The fuel tanker is an old STEEL BP tanker, with a few holes in it ;D
Originally it was fitted to the prime mover permanently via a ball race turntable.
What I meant by the "double flex connection" was that the trailer rear could go up and down via the double oscillating connection and at the same time go up and down via my normal turntable. This double pitching, I'm told, is a no-no. That's why I presume I would have to block my turntable from pitching up and down.
Clearer mud :-[ :o

Sounds like a cool addition to the collection, Rod. You'll have to add it to your signature!

Any plans to cut clam-shell doors in it to use as sleeping quarters or will it always stink?

Hi Andy. Funny you should mention that, because it has crossed my mind more than once.
Do you know if anyone has done that previously and if so, are piccy's around?
