Help on ACCO model numbers

I think there was a system but it ended up all confused;
10, 20 and 40 were petrol - the higher the number the bigger engine ( now you could option a diesel engine on these models BUT the type number wasn't changed)
30, 50 and 70 all referred to diesels, the higher the number the better the engine and the first ACCO to earn the 70 suffix was the 3070A with 903 Cummins.
Thats my theory anyhow and someone out there may know more.

I should have clarified, my comments re model numbers, it applied only to ACCO A.s and later. I was told this in the schoolyard when the ACCO A was released, don't stake your first born's life on it.
Atkipete, as the trucks got bigger, so did the model number, so why was the 3070's successor a 2670? Could it be IH were emulating its European counterparts, with the 26 indicating the GVW?

most acco 1830c series i have seen have the mighty perkins with a s cam sort of braking system usually a slightly higher GVM (than the 1830B which have "wedge" type brakes)somewhere around 14030kgs from memory
cheers ken
however this one proves my "mostly perkins powered" theory partly incorrect

I have no idea of the numbering lettering but this is an ACCO 1950D which I sold two months ago for $15,000

I dont think so, the 2670 was available in 4x2 6x4 and 8x4 form, all with different GVMs

There might have been a system once ie the second digit indicating the payload ;
AL 110 a one tonner - AL 162 a six tonner - L180 an eight tonner
but it soon fell apart once they bought more in more models, started adding bogie drives and lazy axles.
The letter in the middle indicates the configuration of the truck ie F is bogie drive and K is 8 wheeler.
