Googled Gawler, lots of those old buildings look similar but the GpostofficeR is not there.

I was too hasty before: I looked at the rough-face rectangular stonework, and went for bluestone.
What knocked it for Victoria was the brick quoins.
The roofline narrows the field.
I'm now going for WA sandstone, but can't nominate a location.
I could expect VR (Victoria Regina); GR split like that may be the location name, but doesn't have to be. I'm getting nowhere with Great, Grand or Gold, so I'm now hunting Government.

Hi Rodders, if it was built before 1830 it could be George Rex

Well I think it may be sandstone but I am no expert. And yes I think the G bit relates to the monarch of the time. Coulda been George

Almost certainly built between 1910 and 1936 the reign of Victoria's grandson George V (George Rex or G.R.). For those who are interested his son Edward took over but after a few months did a Prince Harry and quit to be with his unacceptable girlfriend. His brother became George VI the current Queen's dad and it looks like there will be another George in a few years after Charles and William snuff it.

My personal opinion is the sooner they all disappear over the horizon the better. But then again what would the Women's Weekly have to write about.

Some hints then. It's still a working PO. No train line down the main drag but you might find a ship nearby.
